Earlier this month, Perry Farrell and the other members of Jane’s Addiction each released statements apologizing for their actions against each other, while also stating that they’ve resolved their differences but will remain broken up. As it turns out (and not surprisingly), the statements were the result of a legal settlement between the two parties.
A lawsuit that Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery filed against Farrell has been dismissed, as has Farrell’s lawsuit against his ex-bandmates, per court documents filed December 22nd and obtained by People magazine.
The legal drama occurred after a blow-up at a September 2024 concert in Boston essentially broke up the band. Farrell had punched Navarro onstage, and then was punched himself by Avery, with some more fighting going on backstage. That turned out to be what is now Jane’s Addiction’s final show.

This past summer, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins filed a suit against Farrell seeking a minimum of $10 million in damages for assault and battery, emotional distress, negligence, and breach of contract, among other allegations. In turn, Farrell sued his ex-bandmates, citing assault and battery, bullying and harassment, and breach of contract, among other accusations.
In his statement just prior to settling the lawsuit, Farrell said in part, “I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the [Boston] show. Jane’s Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades.”
Meanwhile, the band’s statement confirmed their breakup, reading, “We are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together. We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts.”
Navarro, Avery, and Perkins have been working on new music together since Jane’s Addiction’s split, although no specific details have been shared regarding the project as of yet.
